Aims and scope

The Journal of Social Movements advances theoretical and empirical understanding of social movements, collective action, civic participation, community empowerment, public advocacy, and transformative social change.

The journal welcomes interdisciplinary work from sociology, political science, anthropology, communication studies, education, cultural studies, public policy, community development, and related fields.

Editorial board

The journal is managed by the Editor-in-Chief, editorial board, and reviewers with responsibility for scope screening, peer-review coordination, editorial decisions, publication ethics, and production quality.

For authors

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the journal scope, article template, author guidelines, originality requirements, authorship criteria, and publication ethics. Submissions are managed through the OJS online submission system.
